Haven Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 October 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and the creator of Haven ("Haven", "we", "us"), who you can reach at privacy@myhavenjournal.com. By using Haven you agree to them. Please also read the Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to your data.

What Haven is

Haven is a private voice and text journal. You record entries and Haven keeps them for you. Optional smart features can transcribe recordings and suggest titles, tags, to-dos and insights using outside AI services. They're off unless you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time.

Not a medical, therapy or crisis service

Haven is a journal. It is not a medical, mental health, therapy or crisis service, and nothing in it is medical or professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. Suggestions from smart features are made by a computer, can be wrong, and aren't a substitute for a professional. Haven doesn't monitor what you record and won't contact anyone if you're in danger. If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US), or call 911 or your local emergency number.

Who can use Haven

You must be 18 or older. Haven is currently invitation only. Use one account for yourself; don't share it.

Your account

Keep your password safe and tell us at privacy@myhavenjournal.com if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

Your journal is yours

You own what you record and write. You give us permission to store, process and display it only to run Haven for you, as described in the Privacy Policy, including sending it to the AI services you choose to turn on. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from the deletion windows in the Privacy Policy.

Smart features

Smart features are optional. When they're on, Haven sends the data listed in the Privacy Policy to Deepgram (transcription) and Anthropic (titles, tags, to-dos and insights). What they produce may be inaccurate or incomplete; check anything that matters to you. Turning a feature off stops future sending but can't undo what was already processed.

Using Haven responsibly

Don't use Haven to break the law, to record other people without the permission the law requires, to try to get into anyone else's account or data, to interfere with the service, or to overload it on purpose.

Haven is in early access

Haven is new and run by a small team. We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose: you can export everything at any time from Profile › Export your entries. To the extent the law allows, Haven is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Haven. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us for Haven in the 12 months before the claim (currently nothing, as Haven is free). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop using Haven and delete your account at any time from Profile › Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, or if we have to stop offering Haven. If we close Haven, we'll give you notice and time to export your journal, unless we legally can't.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live gives you rights that can't be waived.
